This is the ONLY logical reason for the way they do updates. Every other software developer has on demand updates when the update is applicable to your equipment.
Slow rollout is actually a common practice in large software environments. This is the ONLY logical reason for the way they do updates. Every other software developer has on demand updates when the update is applicable to your equipment.
Social media networks would be another example. New features and layout changes do not roll out to everyone at the same time.Slow rollout is actually a common practice in large software environments.
Do you think Google or Amazon releases features to all customers at once? Of course not.
Can your iPhone kill you if a major bug crops up in production at mass scale?Apple updates every single iPhone on the same day, same hour, same minute, same second.
iOS 13 was available to all without a “roll out.”
You go in and manually request the update.
You need to call support and have them look at your car logs. Most likely a bad update has corrupted things so it won’t download anything. My SR+ is set to advanced, connected to WiFi, and it says my 2019.20.4.2 is up to date...

Clearly this discussion is going to go nowhere. Missing a phone alarm is one thing. Having autopilot swerve into a moving semi truck due to a bug is another.Only billions in lost productivity for the world if the alarm malfunctions, people sleep in, phone stops working, you stop receiving texts... you get the idea.

Each update goes through quality control as much as possible. Doing a phased rollout is essential to prevent any major issues that crop up in production from either bricking the entire updated fleet of Teslas, causing accidents due to other bugs, etc.So a slow roll out will prevent this how exactly? Implicit in your view point is that those who receive the early updates are somehow subject to danger?
And yes, if you choose “Advanced” in the update settings to get the earliest releases for your VIN you accept that.So a slow roll out will prevent this how exactly? Implicit in your view point is that those who receive the early updates are somehow subject to danger?

Tesla - please develop a software update button that we can press when we are connected to WiFi.
Tesla is capturing incredible market-share and as such people in condos/apartments are now buying Teslas. These same people do not always have a WiFi connection at night in their shared parking structures, to be amenable for the current way of establishing a software update.
As such, it would be incredibly useful for us to drive to, a Starbucks for example, get connected to a WiFi hotspot, and manually download the update.
We can then head home and install at a time we please.
This is how every update-able thing in this universe operates. We shouldn’t have to connect to WiFi for days on end and keep fingers crossed to see if a download has occurred. And that is assuming we can connect in the first place.
Tesla - please reconsider the current way of establishing software updates as not everyone has a home with private garage in which to park at night.
