Manufacture date

I should have done my homework better. I didn't realize that there is a cut-off date from HW2.5 to HW3.

Anyway, my VIN number is between 400000 and 400500. I tried to google around to find a possible manufacture date. The twitter @model3vins posted that Tesla registered highest VIN 367644 on 4/21/19 and highest VIN 407324 on 4/29/19.

Does this mean that my car was definitely after 4/21/19?

Does this mean that my car was manufactured before 4/29/19 or after?

Definitely? No.

Highly likely though with that VIN range. And the cutover to HW3 was on 4/12, not 4/21.

It tells you the month and year but not the day. So if it says “4/19” that still would not be conclusive as to whether it has HW3.

I did a chat with Tesla prior to taking delivery of my inventory model (since I wasn't sure what the manufacture date was) and they confirmed I had HW 3. Took about 5 minutes total so you might consider trying that.

Not a big deal since I didn't buy FSD, but weird, considering I don't take delivery until tomorrow.

Just chat on Tesla.com. Confirmed with HW3. This is faster than email my previous contact in Tesla.

Have they assigned your PIN to your online account yet? That was one of the things they asked me prior to going looking for a record. That didn't show up for mine, even though it was an inventory car that I reserved a week prior to pick up, until two days before pick up.

I have my VIN and my RN, haven't heard of a PIN in this context though.

Ask your Tesla contact. Sales person or delivery specialist. It won’t show up in the account

I have a model 3 delivered June 18,2019 with a sticker on the doorjam dated 06/19 but according to the new software 2020.4.1 my car is equipped with the 2.5 computer. I thought all Model 3s after April 2019 had HW 3.0? Any thoughts?

*Most* of them are HW3. There have definitely been some that aren't. You just got unlucky. I'm guessing you didn't buy FSD at the time of purchase, so if Tesla had leftover HW2.5 modules lying around and a shortage of HW3, you get the "lucky" HW2.5 part. If you didn't buy FSD, why do you really care, right?
