In rural areas the non-NAV google maps work fine, as always. Recently when entering an urban area the details become lost and the screen shows fuzzy white roads where the width is based on the class of highway. So not a problem really and the superchargers are still there but not quite as precisely located as before resulting in a good bit of wandering about searching for those Tesla Arches. The other day this went on for 3 hours as I went thru the Denver/Front Range in Colorado.

So why the data loss? I hope this has nothing to do with MCU or usb memory chip failures which so far have not affected this early Dec 2012 ModelS. Car has only 3G and has never been paired to my LTE iPhone.

edit - After getting home I was able to get full color google earth map screen on the following day. Today I called Tesla and they sent a Map Upgrade OTA.
