Map Orientation while Navigating

Is there some way to get the map orientation to switch automatically when you start or end navigation? I'd like to have north-up during normal driving, and heading-up during navigation. While zooming is automatic, I find myself constantly switching back and forth the orientation (which is doubly annoying because the button is on the far end of the screen).

It used to work like you desire. About 6 months ago, it changed to the current behavior. Haven’t figured out how to get back to the old behavior, so I just leave it in track-up orientation all the time.

I find heading-up irritating in normal driving (since the map is constantly rotating). I wish the system would just remember which orientation the user last selected in each mode separately ...

I find that heading up is irritating during navigation, I get dizzy watching the screen spin. So now it just stay in North up all the time and I'm happy.

press the compass on the screen and it toggles back and forth between the two methods

I have mine navigating 95% of the time, partly because of NoA.

Don't believe there is any way to do this and it is also something others do too like Apple Maps and Google Maps.
