I’ve had this issue pop up recently where certain roads have a thick white line overlayed on them while others don’t. It sometimes even starts randomly on certain roads like this. No idea how to resolve it.

That looks like the mapping application is adding vector roads on top of an aerial photo. This is what Google Maps looks like in that area when using aerial:
Here's Bing Maps :
They both use transparency for the vectors which helps, and they have more labels... Maybe you're just missing the labels?
