10% bigger likely by overall volume. Everyone expects the Model Y to be taller. It doesn't seem like a lot, so it will be interesting to see where that's distributed.

I don't know where Electrek is getting this-

Tesla flip-flopped on building Model Y on it's own platform in the first half of 2017, but the issue was settled in August 2017 earnings call when Elon said his exec team had walked him back from over-engineering the Model Y and which would have severely pushed back it's schedule.

The Model Y is built on the Model 3 platform. It share 76% of M3 parts. Elon most recent comments state that they still plan to substantially reduce wiring complexity with the "redundant flex circuit", which should reduce wiring from the Model 3's 1.5km down to ~100m.

Sure enough, straight from the Q4 earnings letter:
"Since Model Y will be built on the Model 3 platform and is designed to share about 75% of its components with Model 3, the cost of the Model Y production line should be substantially lower than the Model 3 line in Fremont, and the production ramp should also be faster."

Give me a “tall” Model 3 - basically, like a CR-V is to a Civic - and we’re Golden here.

Don’t over engineer the damned thing, just give me a commanding view of the road, some extra cargo space and our boy wonder Elon will conquer the world.

No Model Y unveiling anytime soon. Tesla is focused on selling Model 3 at high volumes. Unveiling Model Y now would only hurt sales of Model 3. More likely it’ll be unveiled just shortly before production begins.

i'm ok with RWD if it includes 3 row at that price... (one can dream).
