Interestingly, much of Apples gains last year had to do with #1's tax cuts and all that money APPL could bring back to US.
Now all of APPLs woes are also because of #1's tariffs.

We got till March to see how it plays out.

I bought APPL at 154 and sold at 220, but got back in like 2 weeks back @ 170-180 range :) :(

Not so much about tariffs, but Krugman is highly skeptical about repatriation of profits to US because of tax cut. Remember, his Nobel Prize is in the field of international economics.

his economics are so politically adjusted that they have little value

Fortunately we can fact-check that claim. A Hamilton College study examined the prediction accuracy of 26 national columnists - they scored 472 predictions made by 26 columnists and found that:

"The findings, presented in a paper titled "Are Talking Heads Blowing Hot Air? An Analysis of the Accuracy of Forecasts in the Political Media," showed that in general liberal columnists performed better than their conservative counterparts."

"Paul Krugman, [...] scored the best."

"Lindsey Graham, Carl Levin, and syndicated columnist Cal Thomas made the most mistakes."

STUDY: Paul Krugman, Liberal Columnists Make Better Predictions Than Conservative Ones

You might not agree with his political views, but the economic predictions of Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences winner Professor Dr. Dr. Paul Krugman are top-notch. (He is by no means infallible - he wrote an article about past mistaken predictions of him and what he learned from those mistakes.)

Some of Paul Krugman's latest predictions, for example the ones regarding the effects of the Republican tax cuts on the deficit were very accurate as well - but were not included in this study. He has made consistently accurate predictions during boom and bust cycles.

Disregard Paul Krugman's economic analysis and predictions, just because you disagree with him on policy, at your own peril.

Paul Krugman is a brilliant economist but his politics get in the way of his analysis all too often.

"The Fed chair also noted that if economic conditions weaken, the Fed could readjust its plan to shrink the extraordinary amount of support it has provided to financial markets in the decade since the financial crisis."

The Nobel committee, that did not grant Einstein a Nobel for general relativity,
What were they thinking. They are so impressive.

Krugman was forecasting a stock market collapse if Trump got elected.

Read this book and you'll see Krugman in a whole new light. I've been following him for years and he's constantly reversing his position based on what suits him politically. He thinks he's never wrong but frequently is. Unfortunately, most don't fact check him except for this book.

This reminds me that Munro in the interview likens Elon Musk to Thomas Edison. I’ve been comparing Musk to Steve Jobs, but Edison really is the better comparison.
Yeah, though actually IMO Westinghouse is closer.

Did you see that Governor Cuomo called Tesla this week to ask for help figuring out how to optimize the NYC subway? And of course Rahm Emanuel picked Musk to do the fast O’Hare-downtown connection.
Please note that Cuomo is pretty well documented to be an obstinate ignoramus on absolutely everything. Look up the Medicaid Transportation Funding fiasco (a lose-lose-lose-lose situation created by Cuomo's stupidity) if you want to know why every single local government official of any party is disgusted with him. (I can explain it elsewhere if someone really wants to know, but the result was: higher taxes, much less public transportation so people lost their jobs, Medicaid patients didn't get to their appointments, and taxi drivers were upset too.) He also was supporting fracking until a massive campaign dogged him at every public appearance for several years and his own health commissioner refused to go along with it. He's a dumbass.
