Massachusetts EV rebate and Model 3 AWD, so close yet so far...

So MA has reinstated it's EV program, but the limit is car's under 50k.

I priced out a Model 3 AWD and the price comes to $50,190 (the rebate provisions include destination fees etc...). So only off by $190.

Does anyone know if the destination and documentation fee is truly $1200 as stated on the Tesla site or can it be lower?

Also what are people's thoughts on a possible price drop, even a small one (I only need 190$!)? Although I'm thinking we are done with price drops with the demand being steady, but I hope I'm wrong.

I was just talking to some of the Tesla employees about this at the downtown Boston location a couple of weeks ago. They said that they have raised this very issue with Tesla corporate to see if the price can be lowered by $200, but so far no changes have gone through because, at least for the time being, the price is the same in all 50 states, and there's a good chance they wouldn't want to lower the price nationwide just to meet one state's incentives.

At least, that's what the guys there said to me.

I'm in the same boat as you, as you may have guessed.

DO NOT ask them to lower the price only to qualify the rebates. Ask them to lower it for defects. You can always find demo car or wait few months. When they have more inventory, you can easily get $2k off
good info, and yea when I got mine in Q3 of last year, i had the option of 3 different "demo" cars with varying discounts. The one I chose just happened to be the exact config I want. Super easy

Was just disappointed when talking to sales today as we had decided to pull the trigger on a model 3 AWD based on the incentive, but the sales guy said we missed it by $190. I can't believe they'd lose the sale because they won't drop the destination charge by $200.

I don't understand what Bill Foster, needp3d- are talking about. What is a 'delivery specialist' and how does one find a demo car? When do they have 'more inventory'?

Federal law prohibits them to have different destination fees, so thee'd have to lower it $200 for everyone.

I was trying to offset it a bit, like, "if I buy X dollars of accessories, can you charge me that much more for them and bring the price down of the car by $200." No luck, sadly.

They can’t legally change the destination fee for a single individual.
