What if it’s just the lighting playing tricks? SS can look that way in the right lighting conditions, it’s very much a hairline aluminum or brished look, it doesn’t reflect like chrome.

The reflection in the window doesn’t appear to reflect a matte finish.
Has anyone seen this in person to confirm it’s matte?

You can also apply chemical oxidation to change the color. There will undoubtedly be a treatment Tesla applies to the *bare* SS; after all, SS will actually rust but won’t rot. Tesla has probably already conducted extensive tests. My guess is that they’ll have a few non-paint finish options. Then it’ll be up for owners to customize.
