MCU went blank while driving - now when starting

I've had a look, but only see old threads on this.
Running 2018.28.5 377ec8b on a 2015 MS60 with AP1.
My wife was driving on the highway a couple of weeks ago when the MCU went blank - no warning, just blank.
Continued drive, parked, went back to car - all fine.
Today she arrived at destination, got back in car - MCU blank.
Vehicle (apparently) safely driveable both times.
We have not seen this before with more than 20K miles on it - is this symptomatic of any failures or just bugs in the latest software?

I wouldn't worry about that as long as I can do a reboot to get the screen back on.

Seems to be a plague of MCU resets caused by recent firmware updates. It's mentioned in a few of the firmware threads. Hopefully fixed in the "next" update.

Happened to me also while on a trip. Came back on its own in a few seconds.

My s85 (dec/2014) mcu went black too... while driving the audio wont run, made a soft reset and then whent black. nothing append if try soft reset.

This happens for me as well especially when using navigation. It goes blank and then comes back on as if the car is starting up while driving.

MCU, not IC, going blank is often a sign of the eMMC memory in it going bad. Eventually the MCU will stop booting and it will cause charging problems, as well as the inability to control anything from the screen.
