MCU2 Upgrade

For those of you that have actually gone through with the MCU2 upgrade on your S/X, are you allowed to keep the MCU1 hardware? Mine was replaced less than a year ago to get rid of yellow line and is relatively new. There's an ebay market out there for people out of warranty who need a new MCU and won't want the upgrade. I'd rather keep and sell the hardware if I'm shelling out $2500.

All I heard is if you want to keep the old one, the total cost for the mcu2 would be $3k5.

Just like what r0xx0r said... There is a $1000 core charge if you wish to keep the removed parts.

Wonder if they replace the eemc chip (the SSD part that dies and causes the major issue) and any other parts needed and use them for refurb replacement? Or are the ones they use for that ‘new’?
