Media head unit in new cars

    Tesla mentioned the new AP2 has 40x the computing power of previous generation. I wonder if they also upgraded the 17" head unit. To me that's probably the one that affects me more in my daily driving. Thoughts?

    Doubtful. He means they upgraded the internal chipset which does all AP processing. IIRC this is located in the rear view mirror assembly.

    The new Tesla Vision system uses a separate chip, unrelated to the MCU/touchscreen. No reported announcement about any MCU upgrade.

    Tesla currently has an embedded EyeQ3 based module which is integrated with the forward facing camera. This is what will be updated in AP 2.
