What is unknown about the FM radio is whether or not it is FM-HD (digital receiver). If it is, some of the problems with no AM may be moot for some, because in many cases one of the HD FM subchannels rebroadcasts the AM station. In these cases, sports programming is still available on the alternative HD channel (unlike streaming, which most of the time blacks out major league sports).

Most EVs don't have AM radio because it is a chore to eliminate noise produced by EV. Thus, bringing a portable AM radio or installing an AM radio may not be pleasant because of the noise.
That's true enough. But somehow BMW and Nissan (and TESLA!) have found a way to put AM sections in their radios. And engineering laziness is not sufficient justification from omitting what is a basic feature of virtually every car on the market (MX excepted.).

I watched the OCDetailing video and the first Telsa delivery in Texas video and when they got to music and I heard "I can sync my phone but no Bluetooth audio option" my heart sank. That is 99.99% of the way I listen to music on my daily drive is streaming it through my phone. I mean they have to introduce stereo Bluetooth right? I mean they gotta! lol. I know at some point it will come, but for some reason, if it didn't that would be a deal breaker for me. Hopefully, it comes as soon as customer deliveries start going out. I mean in this day and age it would be like if they included a CD/Tape player combo with the Telsa and said "this is how you will play your music"

I would fully expect it. If you love the feature, I wouldn’t push “buy” until it is there.

There is a zero percent chance they won't support bluetooth streaming of music.

At this point in technology time, it's not even a feature, it's just a standard. A feature of my refrigerator is having an ice and water dispenser on the front, what is not a feature is a light on the inside, or keeping my food cold lol. I think we are past the point in time where stereo bluetooth for a $35k car is a feature. And again since its in the other Tesla models I imagine its a matter of time. But I had the same worry until a few days ago when they updated the app. I was thinking what if the Model 3 comes out and the app support isn't ready yet. You know, the primary way of opening the car.

I used a portable battery AM/FM radio in the Model X and used an FM transmitter to use the vehicle speakers. The AM worked fine in the metro area of SoCal. It is critical that Model 3 have either an FM radio or an AUX jack to allow personal audio through the vehicle speakers.

At least there is room in the side front doors for some after market speakers that could fit in the space. As long as Tesla provides a 12 volt outlet, anything is possible.

BMW hasn't. The i3 omits an AM radio in the US. The tuner is there which means you can code it in but it's really quite bad. I coded it on ours and it's almost unusable when power is being applied to the drive unit. The Model S on the other hand has almost no discernible noise with the AM radio. I wonder of part of this difference is because Tesla was one of the only (THE only?) companies to use an AC induction motor in the S & X but the 3 is going to use a permanent magnet motor.

Also, some of you guys that haven't owned a Tesla before are in for a harsh awakening. The "most advanced" car in the world has a pretty dumb infotainment system. From their inception neither the S or X have been able to stream audio via USB cable from an iPhone. Harken back to the days of controlling your songs via your phone rather than your car because that's what you'll be doing.

Yeah, that's not a feature I'd worry about. I fully expect them to finish that before the true customer cars go out. I worry more about controlling media in your phone through USB. That software is a little more involved and may not be quite as high on the priority list even though that should be standard feature now too.
