Michigan bills to permit fully autonomous vehicles and mobility apps. Michigan moves to lead driverless car testing Would make Michigan first state with full legal framework for autonomy, both testing and commercial operation.
Yet, Michigan law prohibits me from buying a Tesla in state - forcing me to drive 3 hours to another state to buy a car that most closely approaches autonomous driving. Ridiculous. The big three sure have some lobbying power - along with Google, I am sure.
Yep. However Tesla's main business interest in the state under these rules wouldn't involve selling vehicles at all but operating autonomous fleets under a Mobility app and there's nothing the state's dealerships can do about it that wouldn't mess with GM, Ford and Fiat-Chrysler too.
