Michigan is Now Handling Deliveries!

I was supposed to pick up my Y in Cleveland on 6/15. I received a call today offering to move my pick up location to the new service center in Clarkston, MI. It might end up costing me a couple days but it’s gonna save me a 6 hour drive (round trip) and a rental car fee.

Just a heads up if anyone was going to have to drive to Ohio or Illinois. Looks Teslas are finally being delivered to our great state.

No, law stayed the same. The lawsuit Tesla filed was settled with a letter of understanding that Tesla can do everything car related in Michigan except for:

• Title transfer (still out of state)
• Directly own a repair facility (however a wholly owned subsidiary can own a repair facility and can be staffed by Tesla employees)

So trade ins, delivery, service, and help with paperwork can all be done in Michigan, but the legal transfer occurs remotely (no need for buyer to leave the state).
