Mike Maloney is Robert Kiyosaki's precious metals advisor. He's the reason for my avatar (youtube mike maloney debt collapse) Very good article! Mike Maloney in Horrible Car Crash with Tesla | GoldSilver.com
That's just truly amazing. Sad the roadster is totaled but happy Mike's unscathed and its a real crash test showing the strength of the aluminum frame as well as the car's ability to take a dramatic hit to the front.
I'm impressed that in his explanation of the crash he takes the time to promote Tesla and SpaceX. He says he's due to get his Model S in a month or two. I'm amazed he didn't get badly hurt. He says he just stepped out of the car where the door used to be. Wow.
Thanks for the link goyogi. This article is a great read...and his words of praise for Elon Musk, Tesla and the company's outlook is articulate and precise.
Wow! I'd like to see them repair this one in 3 days! Well, all remaining Roadsters became a little bit more valuable I guess. Good to hear he's (relatively) OK.
Complete FUBAR. Glad to hear that he is safe. That roadster is totalled, as the frame is bent. Even with a good mechanic and a full set of heating and repair tools, don't expect to see this one back on the road... at least any time soon.
Maybe, but I think the black thing above and just in front of the yellow thing is the shock absorber. The yellow seems to have a tube extending from it and is firmly strapped to the body of the vehicle in that horizontal position. - - - Updated - - - I think I'll stick with Nitro!
I'd say it's the bottom part of the shock absorber torn from the rest and bend in horizontal position
Also glad Mike is OK. These hills have given us many close calls (in many cars). I was struck by the lack of copious fluids. A "dry scene" is another electric car feature.
>what's that yellow canister strapped on behind the driver's side wheel well? Its the gas charge canister for the bilstein adjustable shocks. Its mounted/strapped to the frame. If you don't have adjustable suspension you won't have one.
>Since the door was torn off, he was saved by the high door sills. That was my observation too, The high rail sides of "the tub" and strength kept the oncoming car away from Mike by deflected the forces down the side of Roadster. I feel better now feel there's a significant purpose sliding in and crawling of it now Just make sure to follow the rollarcoaster rules if you're in a similar situation, Keep all arms and hands inside the ride at all times!
Glad to hear he's OK, horrible crash. Interesting to see in his article that he posts a de-chromed photoshopped pic of Model S: I wonder if he's planning on going with matte black film to cover all the exterior chrome trim. I like this look.
From the way the crash looks, would he have been killed if his Roadster was a gas car? Would the other car have clipped the engine block and pushed it into the passenger compartment? I'm just speculating, but did being in an EV save his life?
