    Hi,

I recently reserved an inventory Model S 60D. The car was on the east coast and even with the 2000$ delivery fee (I live in the bay area), it was the car we wanted. When I reserved it on April 3, it had 619 miles on it. I have the quote that the owner advisor gave me on the day I reserved. Now, he did mention that it'll take 3 weeks for the car to be ready since it's on the east coast. So we wait. On April 7, we receive an email from a Tesla specialist looking after our delivery that the car was not shipped yet. When we asked for a quote for financing on April 10, I noticed that the car had 100 additional miles on it. I'm kinda concerned about this. I'm suspecting that they drove the car even after we reserved it. Not only it added miles on the car it also delayed the delivery.

What should I do in this case? Should I ask for more discount? Is it normal for them to add miles on the car after we booked it?

Well there is a chance it was on loan when you placed ur order, meaning it had that many miles to come home potentially. plus to be in CPO order they will fix it up, text drive it, fix, test drive etc.
I wouldnt be at all concerned about 100 miles

Can you explain this procedure further? I'm not familiar with how that goes.

Your warranty will begin with the miles on the car when you receive it and unless your planning on flipping the car within a year the 100 or 600 miles won't really make a difference.

You could ask for additional discount though I wouldn't expect much more than $1/mile.

New feature of the Tesla mobile app. Instead of manipulating touchscreen controls, you send text messages to your car to summon it, etc. ;)

i didnt mean text.. i meant test.... for instance, once it comes back from being on loan (could be ALL 100 miles, you never know). they will run it through the process.. first the inspection, and fix anything wrong with it... of course if they find an issue they will have to drive it to make sure it fixed... repeat if its not... 100 miles is nothing... seriously dont worry about it. once its done with the inspection and repairs, it goes to interior etc, fixing paint issues, interior clean up, detailing etc .. then you get it.

An inventory car may be used as a test drive vehicle or (less likely) a loaner. I think CPOs fill most of the loaner spots. So if the car was out on a 24h test drive when you reserved it, some miles might have been added before it was retrieved. My first CPO car was out as a service loaner when I reserved it and had to be retrieved which took a week or so.

I'd ask for $1/mile off the final price.

Thanks much for the reply all of you! I'm a bit relieved. And I'll ask for a discount for the extra miles anyways. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Ask for 100 bucks off - you'll probably get it.

this isn't a CPO by the way. It's never been titled. I guess they've been using this as a test drive car
