You can change the tire to get the correct external diameter. See the tiresize.com/calculator for finding the appropriate spare tire.

$260! To borrow a spare wheel and then $80 to patch. I can buy a whole wheel and tire for that.
This was an good video I watched on this subject. He had the correct diameter tire from modern spare but there are even slight differences in tire diameters from different manufacturers.

Our 2018 Ford Escape Hybrid has a space saver spare.Last time I had a vehicle with an actual spare tire was 2000 when I had a pickup truck. Every car since then just had pump and tire sealant and have never needed to use. I'm sure I just jinxed myself.

Now for emergencies. Can we just disable the traction control and drive home/to the tire shop to get it fixed on the “incorrect diameter” spare?
Unless you're sitting by the side of the road with an un-drivable flat, then the cost might look more reasonable.

What about a centering ring? All non OEM wheels I bought came with a centering ring. My understanding is that bolts are not intended to provide lateral support.

Hi,. A hub centric ring just helps you line up the wheel to prevent vibration. I will measure and order them anyway but even discount tire says they are not required.

Considering the max speed is 50 mph, shouldn't need to worry about it. I have a hub centric ring, and use it, but even if I didn't, I wouldn't worry about it, since it is being used on a donut.

I've had my Genesis spare for a couple years now. Used it twice with no issues. Just follow the 50 mph max speed, and you'll be fine w/ a temporary spare. Love that I haven't had to rely on Tesla for roadside assistance.
