Anyone else have what looks like a missing piece in the trunk?

This is looking up between the 2 speakers..

Am I missing a part any idea why it's open like this?

Anyone make an after market part that is useful for the space, toolkit, firstaid, speaker etc..

That area is typically not finished off in the trunk of a vehicle from my experience.

The subwoofer is in the trunk sidewall. The grill lets the sound pass through easier.

I saw a picture of some guy who put a mini garage door opener in that hole. I assume it's some sort of custom power trunk lift.

That is normal and supposed to be that way. It's real purpose has never been confirmed to my knowledge but the thoughts are for either letting additional light into the trunk, it's way to equalize pressure in the cabin when closing the trunk or doors, or it's way of helping HVAC get into the trunk area. Could be one or all of those reasons.
