Missing Type 2 Cables on delivery

Picked up my Model 3 in Birmingham on Sept 29th and during the delivery presentation Tesla advised everyone that there was a Europe wide shortage of type 2 cables so they would not be provided on the day, but would be posted out when available.

Anyone else had the same situation and if so, any update from Tesla or have you had your cable yet?

Mine was also delivered without a type 2 cable (Manchester South SC). I contacted them and they said they had a delivery last week. I asked if they could post me one and they did, it arrived yesterday.

The problem is getting hold of them in the first place, if you are close enough to call in that could be the easiest way.

I’m not, 100 miles away from where I picked up (Birmingham). Much closer to Bristol SC. Sounds like I’m right in assuming that they won’t automatically send it out and chasing them may be required. I’ll call them.

This would presumably be a real problem for anyone who ordered a home charger without a tethered cable? Thankfully my home charger has a cable.

Same as Chris for me. I was missing the type 2 cable and the frunk mat. The SC specialist that went through the car with me said he noted both and they’d be posted out, but I got back in touch with the delivery specialist that I was dealing with pre-collection this week and he posted both same day - which was great in one way, but I think confirms nothing would have come without me chasing..

I have been meaning to ask what cables should come with the car? When i took delivery they said the car was missing a cable and they would be sent out to us after but Im sure he said it was a blue cable which I have got.

The car came with the 3pin plug charger in its bag and a blue cable, should there be anything else?

Blue cable good - thats the Type 2. Many, like ours, got delivered with a 4m grey one instead. Can you see what length your blue cable is?

The one I referenced above that was sent in the post was a 4m grey one, but they used a blue one at the SC during the group demonstration - would be interested to know if the blue one is longer? Though have only used the 3 pin plug at home, and the Warrington Supercharger so far.

How much can you rely on the Warrington supercharger? Its at the tail end (about 5 miles from our destination) of one of our longer trips, so would be a good one to have. However someone recommended Stoke instead, however, if its getting late and/or you have been stuck in traffic but just started to make progress and just want to just 'get there', the Warrington one is the more desirable, but its only got two stalls.

It’s been faultless for me so far (Only 5 charging sessions though) I’ve been there first thing, last thing and lunchtime and only ever had to share it with one Model S once, though have seen it full via the Tesla App at 5pm ish on a Thursday.

It’s not at all obvious where it is, (to the right and round the back of the hotel) so pretty much the furthest possible car parking spaces on site which I think helps it in some respects.

I'm fairly certain I'm missing a black 3 pin cable / adaptor . Collected 2.11.19 West Drayton LR AWD white/white tow . The demo said there is a type 2 blue cable and a black one with 3 pin plug / adaptor . I think it's called TMC or UMC cable . I definitely cannot find it anywhere . There was a black bag in the frunk which I assumed was it but when home realised this was the tow bars .

Anyone know where else to look in the car for the TMC/UMC black cable/adaptor or who I goto to report it missing (phone lines shut on Saturday ). Thx

Should be in the box compartment - lift up the floor of the boot.

If you haven't got one then you'll need to report it by requesting a service appointment via the app (the delivery team/process are done with you now, you come under BAU support now :) )

OMG thanks for this I am such a dufus - did not even know you could lift up the floor of the boot...its there!!!

Please do share any tips. Not got it off pat yet, but only tried twice.

Ah yes. I was new to tow bar fitting. I've now discovered that it's one of those things that is very very easy to do ... but only when you know how! The problem is that though it is easy it turns out to be extraordinarily difficult to describe the process in a manual! I thought I followed the instructions but it didn't really make sense ... if a human had shown me it would have been no problem! I'm not even going to try to describe ... read the manual, you'll get it eventually, and then you'll know forever!

Picked up from Birmingham on 6th Nov and got the same spiel about type 2 charger shortage. I was persistent and then one magically appeared from "out the back" and slipped in to my boot while everyone was checking out their cars. It's not blue, it's black/grey and about 4m I reckon. (I haven't measured). Nag them....
