Missing Voice command like Glove Box

Check and see if you guys have Voice command “Open Glove Box” in the Y.

On my Model Y, it doesn’t recognize that command, works fine in the Model 3.

Model Y currently on 2020.36.0 and the computer has been rebooted.

No dice for me either. I literally try the voice command each time I do a software update hoping that they've addressed this. I don't keep much in there anyway, but it would still be nice to have the voice command function the same as in the Model 3.

Thanks, I thought it was just me, maybe they will update the commands later to match the Model 3.

Fred - It was in the original MY owner's manual released in March but they've revised the manual and took out the "Open the glovebox" voice command example.

I think the owner's manual was based on the M3 and they've been making updates to it since the release.

Still would be nice to have it work the same as the M# and I try it after each update with no luck so far.

Wonder why it is different at all? Both models share all the components and software features and a glove box is trivial.

They share most of the components. 3 doesn’t yet have things like the Heat pump and octovalve.... yet. Probably easier to keep the car software siloed to each model for that reason.

It’s a 2 button solution for a 1 button operation. “Open glove box” could be on the bottom of the main screen, maybe?

May be there is some hidden Easter egg kind of thing that sounds too similar to that command and they do not want anybody to activate that by mistake... I could list a few deviations but I'd probably get banned in the process....

I had to do a double take on your post. Somehow the ".40 SW" sounded like something else you'd keep in your glove box, and a good reason to require a pin to open...

Me too. I saw they make keyed locked boxes, for under the seat of the Model Y, for this and other purposes.

AFAIK "Open Glovebox" has never been a recognized command in the Model Y - in the Model 3 yes but not Model Y. We're all still waiting.

I thought the same as you for a while. Then it dawned on me; It worked on the Model 3 I test drove, not the Model Y.
