I hear ya but the thing of it is, this is the electric version of the "i". It would be nice if they could find a decent name for the left hand drive version since it will, at least, be slightly different.

In most cases "v" is pronounced like "f" in German.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but any native speaker will read "iMiEV" as "iMief".
