Model 3 accident with deer

Hi guys,

A little background. The car is a 2020 SR+ With 35k miles on it.

Slammed a deer going 75 mph and it ended up breaking my rear passenger window and also scratched and dented the doors on the passenger side.

Need some help on the insurance process and if I can haggle with the insurance company to total the car. This is my second deer accident with the Tesla and I don’t want to be driving a car that’s been repaired 2 times.

Wow, So you weren't using autopilot? I'm surprised that your auto brake didn't kick in.

great point to remind people not to rely on the car to save you from anything. When my wife had a CX-5 and I frequented those forums, a guy commented why the forward collision braking did not prevent him from driving into his garage door.

to the OP, glad you are ok...but you may be getting a new Tesla.

I know this is OT for the thread, and has nothing to do with the OP in THIS thread, but

People have definitely asked the same question here (same exact question in fact), to blame the car for not preventing them from driving into their garage doors.

Let me repeat that the above comment is not in relationship to the OP in this thread, just a comment in general that what @sightman mentions seeing on other car forums absolutely has been posted here as well.

Wow, sorry to hear of this mishap.

I would agree the car should be totaled, but realistically it looks like it could be salvaged by someone with body shop experienced as the drive train and mechanical elements don't look damaged.

If the car has already been wrecked once, it should have diminished value, thus requiring less damage to total it than an unwrecked vehicle of its age/mileage.

I'm thinking in your case, the body shop will find additional damage after partial disassembly that will require it to be totalled.

Hi guys a little update on my last post. I collided with a deer going 75 MPH on the interstate a few days ago. No one was hurt thank god but I have some concerns going forward with the repair process.

1. I hit another deer 4 months ago and the whole front of the car was replaced including sensors. I received no collision warning and the car did not brake. Also the airbags didn’t come out after this hard impact

2. Will the cost of the last repair cause this vehicle to be totaled this time around.

3. Any chance thie frame is bent.

Still waiting on an adjuster to look at the car but wanted any helpful tips when it comes to dealing with insurance
