Model 3 alarm setting for travelling by ferry

Can anyone share their experiences of travelling by ferry with a model 3? Particularly with regard to the alarm settings?

I've got an 8 hour overnight journey coming up. On previous cars I could choose to lock the car without setting the alarm, is that simple to do with the model 3?

I found this in the manual:

Do I understand correctly that it's as simple as disabling security alarm from the Safety and Security menu? Also, what's the 'optional security package'?

I don't want to enable dog/camp mode and leave the car awake all night. I'd just like it to be locked and asleep, without the alarm active.

you have to disable sentry mode first then you switch off the tilt intrusion, get out and lock the car.

Thanks for the responses, seems a lot simpler than I thought it would be. Disable Sentry then disable tilt. That's good as I can still have an alarm set for any genuine break in attempts, however unlikely.

Still intrigued as to what the 'optional security package' is. The excerpt was from a European manual.

The intrusion alarm isn't standard in all countries, but is in the UK.

There is a right bug in this. I couldn’t turn off tilt intrusion at all either. The answer for me (2021.12.25.7) is:
1. Turn off sentry as others have said. 2. Turn on dog mode and then turn it straight off.

That’s it. The toggle switch for tilt sensor is now off. Worked for me your mileage and version may vary.

Did that when we went to Ireland recently then sat up in the lounge several decks up with the cacophony of alarms going off on the car deck. Surprising that ferry doesn't announce "Disable alarm" or somesuch given this is an any-car issue

I have a model 3 long range bought new in 2021

There is, unfortunately, no way currently to disable the alarm. The settings mentioned above are no longer available.

With sentry off. ‘Safety’ menu, scroll to the bottom of the screen. Turn off tilt/intrusion. If you have pets- use dog mode.

This is incorrect- see the answer above. I use a ferry a few times a month and as I park on board I turn off the tilt slider.

This appears to be a hardware issue. 3/Ys from early 2022 on do not have a Tilt Intrusion alarm fitted and have no way to turn off the alarm. Earlier 3s appear to have it — it depends on when the car was produced.

Never mind ... if it DOES trigger during the crossing your car won't be the only one, believe me! Ferry trips these days always seem to be accompanied by a cacophony of car alarms coming from the car deck ... (My "old" Model 3 has the Tilt/intrusion option so I have been able to avoid embarassment!)
