Has anyone been invited to configure their reservation yet? Employee, or otherwise?
I don't expect anyone other than the first 30 people to be asked to configure before the end of the month.
They've either been asked to go through the options and configure manually, or the configurator has been opened only to them (like the early X sig reservations).
I expect that the configurator won't be open til post-delivery event.
With the 30 people being board members and investors and the only options being paint and rims, I bet it's more like this:
Monday morning Elon heads over to the board room..."John, you're up today, you want black right?" "Yep with those 19" rims you got"
Patience, young Jedi...
The meeting of board members will be like the following with anyone disagreeing with the only option of a Black car....
Better question? Who checked their Inbox and My Tesla this AM.
And for those who are off-their-meds, how many checked their driveway when they woke up?
You can have any color you want...... as long as it is Black! Henry Ford
I bet they built 6 of each of the 5 colors that are going to be available at launch, then they sent out an internal email: "Who wants a Multi-coat red with 19" wheels?"
Probably haven't even used a configurator yet.
I did notice in the last week they they changed tesla.com/model3/design It use to go to an unformatted version of tesla.com/model3 but now just redirects to it.
I am also hoping that tesla.com/support/model-3-walkthrough will have the instruction videos on it. Right now that link goes to the S & X videos.
if those 30 cars will all be built in the next 2 weeks, they should be receiving configurations for at least that next 100 by now..
I can confirm that there is currently no Model 3 (with or without HUD) in my driveway... nor in my garage. Plan to actively monitor this situation for any developments and will report back if/when things change.
Yes, but we were told not to tell anyone about it.
Maybe something like this posted in employee cafeteria:
Filled mine out this morning.
Don't give yours to Elon too. He'll start expecting it from all of us.
If they were secretly done for small number of people, usually there'd be leaks. However, if the NDA said they'll move you to the end of the line if leak happens... I'm expecting the configurations go live to selected people on 28th, and 5 minutes later we have screenshots here.
There's definitely no reason to have a configurator for employees that they can sneak pictures of. Once they choose the 30, they can email, or they can come around with a piece of paper.
They can do what Hollywood does, stamp their name in giant letters on that paper, so they'd know if it got out.
If it does go live that soon it would most likely still only be for employees, and Tesla employees have been shown to be remarkably good at keeping a secret. Given the rate of production for the first few months I don't expect non employees to have access until some time in August or September. Unless they just open it to everyone but you can only confirm by invitation.
Or simply just have them do it at work, supervised, so they can't make screenshots or send emails of anything.
not sure what the point of continuing to restrict the configurator will be after the 7/28 reveal.
up until the 7/28 reveal, sure. but after?
why would Tesla care if we play around with it while anxiously awaiting our turn to order?
