For corrosion protection, stainless steel? I don't know about its cost.

I sure hope Tesla went all out on dipping and coating and sealing up the body once the metal work was done, they cannot afford to have any road salt corrosion problems for 10 years.

The document would have mentioned if it was stainless. But honestly, I have more concern about the aluminum-steel interconnects than I do about the steel frame itself rusting away during the car's useful lifetime. I'm sure they'll handle the steel properly.
