Not bad time considering the charging time required!

Alex Roy used to have the Cannonball record in just over 31 hours with a BMW M5 (non EV record, obviously) that had an extra fuel cell in the trunk just to shave off fueling time. (not to mention about $10k in radar detectors, laser jammers, and police scanners). Met him once at a BMW car meet in GA. He referred to my $150 radar detector as "about as useful as a paper condom in Bangkok" lol.

Tesla really doesn't want the Model 3 to get any sort of positive attention. Breaking the cannonball record for an electric vehicle is a substantial news story and therefore Tesla probably pulled it before it could gain any attention.

Kind of stupid if you ask me

On top of everything else, Unplugged Performance is uncharacteristically silent! Usually, they tout client cars on their website. But in this case, this first model 3 in their orange signature livery is strangely absent. Very puzzling!

U.S. Coast-To-Coast EV Record Broken By Mysterious Tesla Model 3


That's 30 minutes faster than the last Tesla record which was done by 2015 Model S at 51:47.

This time:

Tesla Model 3 from Manhattan Beach Pier, California to Manhattan, New York in 51:17.

I guess: smaller and lighter has its advantage.

Why is Tesla having pictures & videos of the Model 3 removed from the internet? The coast to coast drive pictures from instagram were removed. Why? What was the point of the July delivery? Seems that it was an internal pre-production delivery to an internal test group under NDA so tight they can't even share pictures.

What gives? What is Tesla trying to hide. What is likely to change before a real customer can get a Model 3?

May be it's kind of unfair to boast its own people to be the first to break the records while more qualified public are still waiting to have their orders to be filled so they can be the first too!

May be by that time, Dual Motor Model 3 will be widely available with even more range and a better chance to beat this record!

I thought the official EPA rating is 310 miles.

However, my practice for a road trip is to spend as little time as possible for charging.

The charging rate is fastest with low state of charge and slowest if you try to fully charge it.

So the goal should not be charge up to 310 miles but whatever little miles it takes to go to the next station.
