Is cabin cabin overheat protection a feature of all the Model 3 sold ?
I have PUP without EAP and cannot find the feature on the sub-screens to shut off..

I'm losing about a mile an hour. This is with interior temps reaching only 80F and estimating outside temps in the 70s.
Currently on 2018.24.1.

I just checked my car (Version: 2018.24.1), sitting since Sunday night, haven't used the app since then, and I lost 70 miles. That's like 18 miles a day lost.

No third-party apps. Outside temps have been reaching 80-90 this week...interior temp (car's in the garage) prob. around 80 or less.

So would you recommend rebooting or trying the Cabin Overheat Protection (I do not recall seeing this anywhere).

Are you using any third party apps that use the API? Like TeslaFi or Tezlab?

Is the car indoors or outside? What’s the ambient temperature?

I am not using any 3rd party apps.

Car is indoors overnight so I am assuming it is not getting ridiculously hot.

Will call Tesla tomorrow and see what they say... (btw, pretty sure my firmware, 2018.21.9 does not have Cabin overheat protection... think that came in 2018.24.1)

Please please report back what you hear or if they fix anything. My car has been at the service center for 80 days straight, can't figure out what's causing it.

He didn’t see it there,,, ill look again later
So i just checked this morning to see where the Cabin Overheat protection is located.

It's in the Safety & Security menu but in the sub-menu accessed by touching the gear icon at the top right of the screen. I'm on 2018.24.1.

Before 24.1 you still have cabin overheat protection and it's always on. My understanding of the feature is that it keeps the cabin from going over 105° for 12 hours after the car has been exited.

Mine has been pretty consistent at between 0.31 miles per hour idle. All in a garage with temps between 65 and 75 F.

Tip -- easy way to keep track is to via the Tesla App screenshots on your mobile phone. I take one when I park in evening and then one before I start up. The screenshot has time and battery charge....so by comparing the one of each morning and night before you know how much charge you lost over how many hours.

So last night til this morning (9pm-9am), my M3 only lost 4miles... seems like it is getting gradually better so decided not to call Tesla yet and will give it a bit more time while keeping an eye on it. Don’t want it stuck at the SC, especially next wk as I need it for my commute.

Question for folks: When you charge the M3 to 90% (default battery “charge to” setting... it’s where the “Trip” limit begins), what mileage do you get? My 90% point is 276 miles.

Still a fairly consistent 1MPH loss as long as the cabin overheat protection is not running. Only have the Tesla app and beta release of teslogs.com getting access to the car. Don't recall the range at the 90% point but I should know later today. Planning to supercharge this afternoon while out running around.

Charged the car yesterday and it looks like my charging limit slider may be just over 90%. Range resulted in 278 miles. Car is not quite two weeks old and has been Supercharged twice, three 3.5 hours sessions on ChargePoint and several times trickle charging at home. So far my consumption is at 239Wh/mi over 570 miles.

I finally found the way to turn off overheat protection: it is in settings of the safety screen.
I've now started a log to monitor vampire losses. First 20 hour test I lost 2 miles of range.

That is about twice what I will happily tolerate, but at least not abysmal.

The owners manual says about 1% per day, which is 3 miles. If that makes you unhappy, perhaps you shouldn’t have bought the car. I don’t understand why anyone cares about the car using about 3 miles of range per day to maintain its systems and connectivity.

Simple, really.
I hate waste
I don't want the connectivity for that cost
System "maintenance" should be a small fraction of that amount .. if any.

I intend to collect some baseline vampire data with my car and phones paired and the Apps active in the background, and then I'll see how the car does without that connection. As someone who is still capable of turning off a light when I leave a room, I can still manage to use a card to operate the car.

3 miles a day is about a 30 watt vampire. That is ridiculous. Compare it to my Mac or Chrome Notebook computers that consume around 6-8 watts when fully operational and network connected. Or for one other perspective: 1000 miles a year consumption for a trivial convenience.

(Not sure if it is buried in this thread somewhere)

Has anyone checked if "vampire drain" is worse from higher SOCs?

For instance, if you leave the M3 parked starting at 90% charged overnight, is the amount of drain worse than if you started at 50% ?

Wondering if maybe the thermal management has to do more for a more fully charged battery.
