Yep the AP code is very good at a much smaller set of problems, it seems a lot of people think self driving will happen in a lab somewhere and be put into consumer hands complete, like a fair chunk of our existing tech has.

This just isnt the way you solve a big complicated problem.
Exactly you can't solve this problem like this in a lab or with a committee it would never see the light of day
I suppose the danger is with those with vested interests, doing what ever they can to slow or stop Tesla's progress

Responding to my own question!

I’ve owned our SR+ for nearly 18 months and just ticked over 45k kms.

Several minor issues over that timeframe
- SIM failing (sorted - warranty)
- Driver’s mirror fault (sorted - warranty)
- radar sensor failing (sorted - warranty)
- driver’s seat sensor fault (awaiting parts)
- 3 punctures sorted with roadside assistance

So far so good!

Damn, that is some bad luck.

Well besides the inconvenience of having to wait for roadside assist for the punctures - longest wait was an hour, all the other faults were not a biggie.

Perhaps the radar sensor failing because it meant I couldn’t drive with cruise control for most of the Christmas holidays.
