Model 3 Efficiency Improvements?

This is an interesting article on Teslarati:

Sadly my Model 3 is 2020-H1 so it doesn't really benefit but if the article is correct very recent M3's look to be over 20% more efficient.

Can that be right? Surely the range would be much higher then?

Tesla has a history of rolling out efficiency updates and then updating the EPA ratings later - they have done this multiple times and even gone back and then updated earlier cars to also show the increase in efficiency.

The interesting thing here is that a lot of these the report implies that these improvements are also actual hardware improvements. It would be very interesting to see what these changes are. Can any of them be retrofitted to earlier cars? A 25% improvement in efficiency is huge.

How are these figures generated? Cars produced in 2020 H2 and most in 2020 H1 have never been driven in winter yet in most parts of the world so that will significantly skew the figures I would think.

Not saying there have not been improvements. Sandy Monroe said the MY heat pump has had multiple changes already since the original car he stripped only a few months back so it would be bizarre if no parts on the M3 had been changed in 3 years
