Model 3 Homelink not working

When I setup homelink this weekend I needed to hold the transmitter about 6" from the front bumper. If you're standing back a few feet try getting right up on the bumper.

And I had to aim the remote at the Tesla emblem, not the bumper!!!

I spent a lot maybe too much time on Homelink for model 3.
It seems hit or miss but keep at it and it will work. Walk away for a day then try again.

I’ve been trying for a couple of days now to get mine working... If I can’t even get it to detect the signal from my remote for my garage or community gate, could it be that there is an issue with my car?

2008 chamberlain liftmaster - using the Blue LED remote, and then pressing learn button - the car wasn't recognizing this is a learning code kind of door - during the 3rd attempt the screen rebooted and then it paired. On the second garage door, no-go despite 5-6 attempts. I finally decided to use an old remote (no LED) for the chamberlain and it worked!!

So try:
1. using a different remote - avoid blue led chamberlain remote.
2. reboot screen.

I have a Genie opener and it would not work at all until I cycled the LED that’s always on to red from blue. Blue would not work. Red did work.
The instruction manuals on these openers are an abomination, but read through and get the led to turn red.

Hi, I picked up my Model 3 last weekend and have been trying to setup Homelink for both my garage (Liftmaster built in 2010) and a front gate to the complex I've lived in. I've tried about 20 times to get the Homelink to identify either my front gate or garage and never has worked. Please note that the remote I have includes two buttons, one for the garage and one for the complex gate.

So far I have tried the following:

1. Created a profile and started the process on the Model 3 touch screen to the point that it asks me to stand in the front of the front bumber.
2. Once standing in front of the bumber, I've tried both holding the remote button down for 30 seconds as well as holding the button for 2 seconds, releasing, and pressing again for 2 seconds multiple times in a row. I tried this pressing both the garage door button and the front gate button.
3. I read on a forum to try and open the frunk and have attempted this as well without any luck.

On the back of my garage door machine, it lists the part # as 41As050R1M with a date of 06/10. It it as Chamberlain LifeMaster.

Before reaching out to Tesla I wanted to check with you all and see if anyone else has any suggestions/tips. Thanks in advance for any help.

I need to push a button on the motor in my garage rather than press any key on the remote.. Read your garage door manual carefully. (you can always download the manual from Chamberlain web site)..

I finally got it to work. On newer Genies you have to convert the 3 button remote to the old style signal, which gives a RED light. Default is GREEN. you press and hold a button for 10 sec until both red and green lights are lit, then quickly double tap the button, it will change to red. Once on red, I followed the steps, and everything worked. Not anywhere did I read show this, had to dig deep. Hope this helps further Genie owners.

I had major issues, too... spent a good 30 minutes looking crazy trying to program it by holding it near the bumper, etc., as instructed; then on YouTube, I found a video of someone who was able to program HomeLink by *holding the transmitter close to the bumper, but inside the frunk*.

Call me crazy, but it worked for me for the 2 condominium community garages I needed to program.

I've had this issue Everytime I tried to add a new homelink with any car. I always had to delete all stored profiles and start fresh reprogramming every car

This helped me. I have ~2011 liftmaster garage door opener.

I was able to get car lights blinked and I also did learn button thing but this never worked.

Finally I released all older profiles and then redid the steps and it worked.

Unsure if anyone else has had issues with Auto-Open not working with Homelink. I always need to manually open. I have noticed however that as I'm pulling away from a closed garage door, it will then open. Not terribly helpful.

heh, I have the opposite problem.

Auto open as I approach works great.

But auto close never works as I pull forward out of the garage...so I have to turn the car around and point the front of the car at the garage and manually close every morning.

I first did this without any problems 2 years ago.
Trying to do it at a new house and it would only work when I put the remote inside the trunk.

Even if the handheld remote is working, I've found that fresh batteries in the remote can make a difference. Also, I have a wallet size remote and a fob size remote - the wallet size remote was the one to use.

We have quite a few cars and they change often, so I get to program the Homelink quite a lot. A few of the cars have built in Homelink and others have Genie generic remotes. I've found that the ONLY way to program a new car that has Homelink™ is with the original Liftmaster/Chamberlain remote. The clones don't work. Other cars won't work.

Home Depot and Lowes actually sell a "garage door opener" light bulb.
