Looks very cool. Any advice on which floor jacks work well? I have a Harbor Freight cheap-o jack that worked fine for changing out the winter tires on my old car, but it doesn't have the flat pad needed to work with your tool.

so can i make a suggestion? Can you make it wider? I like to put a jack stand underneath my car after I jack it up with the hydraulic jack. I then let it rest on the stand while I work. That way if the jack fails the stand prevents it from falling, potentially on me.

Although now that I'm thinking about it this may not be a good idea b/c then the car would be resting on a point not at that jack point...hmm

Not possible with the limited factory jack area being so small, I made it as wide as it was possible. Tesla’s are nothing like any other vehicle, the whole reason for these are the limited space and super close proximity to the battery packs, pack rails and side skirts. There is no more room to add anymore surface.
I started making these just for myself and my workers as we work with Tesla on the spare tire loaner program so I’m very aware of what’s under these vehicles, the “I wish for more factor” has been thought thru.
 
I like them. Just one question: In the owners manual it says not to place anything on the side rails. It looks like from the pictures that it covers a portion of the side rail and was wondering if that would be an issue. Definitely considering getting one.

The area of weight pivot is the factory lift area, the rail the owners manual is referring to is the center stretch that’s not reinforced. See picture. That oddly shaped dorito looking thing with the hole in the center is the factory lift area the pad site in the hole and the weight is centered on the area.

so to be clear I've taken your photo and annotated it

  • red box area is the lift spot that contact is ok
  • blue box area is the side rail to be avoided. While your tool does touch this I would imagine not much force is being applied because the tool is soft and there is no direct hard pressure from the jack underneath here. I'm a little surprised this area is off limits. Is it noticeably thinner than the red area?
  • green box area is the battery to definitely be avoided
  • yellow box area is some sort of thin cowling? what is under here? I would imagine some deformation of this while aesthetically displeasing wouldn't damage the car long term. Same here as the blue box, the tool appears to touch but for the same reason above I don't see an issue

The yellow area is a no touch area also it’s the side skirt. Everything but the red area which should be green if we’re being safety politically correct everything else should be red and not touched

do you agree with teslas assessment that areas besides what's I've labeled red not be touched? Why or why not?

I think your tool touches blue and yellow in some way. How can you be sure what force is being applied to them isn't detrimental?

No it doesn’t. The lift area is pitched away from the inner pan. I don’t design or release any product without fully testing it and actually crawling under the vehicle to look at all the angles.
Any other questions or implications I can answer?

as for other questions (not sure what you mean by implications) yes, you seem to not have answer my other question: whether you agree if the spots tesla says not to lift from are in your opinion legit concerns

Your colored boxes are incorrect, the area I circled are load bearing, the area in your blue box has a ear tab now that area down to the bottom where your red triangle is the loadbearing area as it’s reinforced material, the rest of that creased ridge down to the rear lift area area is the weaker area Tesla says to not lift from.

great this is the kind of feedback I was asking for.

Received my jack pad adapter today. Build quality is very good. No doubt in my mind that this is sturdy enough to do the job. Dont take delivery of my Model 3 until the end of the month so I can’t test it yet but I don’t anticipate any issues.
