Doesn't passive entry just mean you don't have to hit the fob to unlock the door? I imagine you can still unlock and drive with just the fob.

Yup.

You can also unlock and drive with just the keycard that was free and a ton less bulky than the fob.

They managed to deliver a much requested bit of hardware that lacks the primary feature anybody was requesting it for.

This demonstrates a truly godlike level of incompetence.

Where do I attach this fob to my key ring? From the pictures I've seen I don't see anyplace to connect it to a standard key ring. Sorry if this is a bit basic, but I assume nothing with Tesla anymore

A lanyard comes with it according to the manual.

Hopefully we don’t have to do that. Hopefully proximity from pocket works. Having to put the fob on console would be a major buzzkill not to mention having the fob flying all over the car on acceleration and braking.

The car will start without placing the fob, within 2 minutes after you've unlocked it. So you will only have to place the fob in the center console area if you take longer than 2 minute after unlocking the car.

Also, you don't have to leave the fob there. You place it, start the car, and then you can put the fob wherever you want after that

no passive entry and they expect us to pay $150? LMFAO.

that being said, i'm one of the people who has had major issues with phone as key...has anyone else noticed it getting much better lately? i'm not sure if that is placebo or if they've actually been making improvements as they go with software releases, but for me anyway it has gotten much better. i'd say it has gone from working maybe 20%-30% of the time to maybe 70% or so. it still fails far too often, but it has felt better...it also feels like walk away lock fails more often than passive entry does.
