Yeah, same happened to me once I took off the hold. I suspect while you are on hold they have a temporary VIN assigned (maybe a VIN for each day) anyways and quickly match it to you if you release the hold.

Is there a way to check your history of holds? I put my car on hold back in December but took it off around the 20th - would love to know the actual date...

Cautiously expecting a VIN within the next 10 or so days based on others here... but we shall see

You could text Tesla and ask about the exact hold period, they might see it from your account. Other than that, I think there is no way of looking it up. Based on your order date though, you should receive your VIN pretty soon in the coming days.

Interesting they'd put a car up for general inventory in the Bay Area instead of delivering it to a customer who is definitely waiting...in the Bay Area...20 minutes from the factory...

Probably has the old chip and battery and has been refused 10 times so they gave up

Yeah, I took off my hold and got the VIN 30 mins later Though my EDD is Feb 22 - Feb 26 so I have time to finalize things on my end.

A lot of 11/21 orders have been getting VIN's very quickly.

Depends.

I was talking to my SA, and in my province, he said just ignore it, and we do it upon delivery.

Could be different for you, depending on where you live?
