Ouch, how did that happen? Was it on the freeway or was it rockfall off of Fuerte Drive embankments? I've seen rocks there on many occasions and with all the rain this year it must be pretty unstable.

Would like to hear size of the rock, speed etc that could cause this damage. Were you on a paved road? Agree that insurance should cover this since it was damage caused while driving.

On a paved road at ~40 mph. Rock/boulder just big enough to tumble along the length of the battery pack making multiple dents each about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep

Yea, I'm pretty sure that wasn't just "run over a rock" it sounds more like it would have been "landed at high speed on a boulder"

From what someone else said the battery cost is $15k and then you add 4.5 hours of labor on to that. (At whatever the labor rate is at your service center.)

The Model S did have fast battery swapping capability. They even built a battery swap station on I5. It was abandoned because fast charging is better.

4.5 hours is light for R&R with everything involved. (interior seats/carpet, coolant, etc.)
