Model 3 Mud flaps

The 'generic Chinese' mud flaps were once (I don't know about now) pretty prevalent across eBay and Amazon, sold by dozens of different sellers with weird names but an otherwise identical product, even if marketed differently - I chose one that I thought was flexible but on receipt it was just the standard ABS version that the seller had oversold the (non) flexibility. It was a case of choose how much you wanted to pay, or were prepared to wait (the cheaper ones shipped from overseas) and how much you trust the seller then pick the seller. Sounds like now, as well as having the choice of black or body coloured, you need to watch out for the screw or clip types.

We have the screw type and didn't bother with the top screw, not least because it would rust out in a few months. Not had any issues from it not being fixed up top although there is a bit of a gap, but we do have PPF around those parts to prevent any rubbing.

I was initially disapointed with them, having expected them to be more flexible (for reasons of @Roy W. 's earlier post of stone damage) but tbh, they do a useful job at keeping most of the big debris off the car (lots of pine needles around these parts) and if you treat them as something that may need to be replaced occasionally then certainly a worthwhile and easy fit.
Thanks for this info. I am leaning towards screw on rather than clip on purely for the fact that it might tend to be more secure in the event that one happened to encounter a high curb. Hopefully, they should be more securely fixed than clip on type, albeit more work to initially fit in place.
The seller that @googlepeakoil mentioned shows a picture of "their" mud flaps being scrunched up, so they should be the flexible type!

Possibly not - I fell for that too. No different to any of the others even though the seller showed a picture of them being twisted around like a wet towel. They are all fairly rigid ABS. Please let us know if they really are flexible as I will probably get a second set.

As for the screw type, the ones supplied seem to be cheap steel which have been known to rot out in a few months. I tried to get some SS screws from a different seller but getting a small quantity was a problem so didn't bother.

They're not rubbery. Seem to be generously thick black plastic. Have a bit of flex in them to move a few degrees - but definitely won't curl up!

I installed the generic 'ABS' types immediately after I got the car (before the first drive, along with a 100mm ppf strip along both side sills).

No issues for about 5500 miles then managed to break one of the fronts, probably after parking up on a curb. Neither of the little plug fit connectors snapped (the remaining stump was still fixed in place) so once pushed home securely they are very tight and robust.
