Would you guys recommend installing some clear PPF before putting on the mudflaps?

I would recommend it. About a month after getting my car, I had the whole front end fully PPF'd. But wanted to protect the rockers from stone chips and sand blasting like so many pictures I'm seeing about paint wearing out. So I ended up getting these eBay/China mudflaps. However, prior to installing them, I ended up PPF'ing the lower doors and rockers myself. Once this was done, I was able to install my front mud flaps, as there was PPF everywhere the fronts would be against.

As for the rears, I haven't installed the mudflaps yet, because I want to test mount them with a piece of paper underneath the sides of the flaps. That way, I can trace the outline of the flaps and then trace and cut out some PPF to install underneath and just about 1/4" outside of where the rear mudflaps will mount.

Do you have wheel spacers on there?

No spacers. Factory performance wheels w 235/35/20 oem tires

Ut oh, I found one rear flap had unclipped from the top. It was easy to put back. It’s possible it bumped something (like a speed bump) and that could be a good thing it did that.

Keep an eye on it.

For the front flaps I didn't install the screws because I didn't want to drill any holes on the car. So far it hasn't been a problem.

Better to be secure and a tiny hole in the plastic liner that you could fill or plug than risk it flopping around. Also there is a higher risk of sand getting behind it without the screw.

Does anyone hear a weird high pitch "ping" noise every once in a while since installing these? At first I thought it might be a rock hitting them and bouncing off but I hear it at really low speeds on roads with no rocks.

Not at all. No difference in cabin noise as far as I can tell.

Completely agree. Not worth the risk of it causing a bigger problem than a tiny little screw hole.

I've had it happen on one side also. Hopefully it was just an installation issue and doesn't keep happening.

That would be my vote. Reasoning: $180, yeah, right. Minimal protection. And last but not least, you don’t even get all the hardware needed to install them. A “rip” just like the French-Canadian ones for $150....

I ended up going with the Basenor Amazon Mud Flaps. I didn't want to drill a hole in the front fenders so I just used double sided 3M tape on the side edges. If that can hold on my spoiler, I'm sure it will hold these on. I just put on the tape without removing the backing, then pulled a bit of the backing to created a pig tails on the red part of the tape and then screwed it on. When it was secure on the bottom, just pulled the pig tail from the 3M tape and pushed down. Worked great.

I didn't drill into the liner and only used 3M double side tape also. It's been a few weeks since I installed them and no problems with the double sided tape so far.

Those were powdercoated grey. Got new wheels.

Just curious, are these the same ones as many of you installed? Where a hole drilling is need to properly secure it in the front for certain vintage model 3?

If i wanted to paint them, in my case white, what kind of paint is needed? I saw a photo here of white, not sure how i feel splash guards being off color...
