Just curious, are these the same ones as many of you installed? Where a hole drilling is need to properly secure it in the front for certain vintage model 3?

If i wanted to paint them, in my case white, what kind of paint is needed? I saw a photo here of white, not sure how i feel splash guards being off color...

There are a few options on Amazon for painted versions of these mudguards. The ones I saw were in the $40 range and the arrangement of holes, etc looked identical to the molded plastic ones I installed.

I ended up going with the Basenor Amazon Mud Flaps. I didn't want to drill a hole in the front fenders so I just used double sided 3M tape on the side edges. If that can hold on my spoiler, I'm sure it will hold these on. I just put on the tape without removing the backing, then pulled a bit of the backing to created a pig tails on the red part of the tape and then screwed it on. When it was secure on the bottom, just pulled the pig tail from the 3M tape and pushed down. Worked great.

FWIW, your method is how the OEM mudflaps on my BMW X3 are installed. I did have to drill a hole in the plastic wheel well. They came with 3M tape to help keep it secured. I think it's been over 10,000 miles now and rock solid, but it is an OEM product. I'm leaning towards these Chinese plastic ones because my BMW ones installed so cleanly.

Checking in to see if anybody has had any efficiency issues for range as a result of having the mud flaps on. That’s literally the only thing holding me back on putting these on.
It'll be a rounding error man, no one is doing a scientific study. It's like worrying about efficiency of having the window open while driving so you never open the window, it's paranoia. Just drive the car, these won't have any dramatic, noticeable effect and will keep your car clean and worth more. If you do see it impacting range, just take them off, all you'll lose is 20 minutes of your time.

I've been following a few threads about mud flaps for a while and from what I've heard there is no noticeable efficiency change. I've noticed the same since I installed my mud flaps a few days ago. Even if there was a small efficiency hit, I would still install the mud flaps because after 17 months and 32,000 miles I started noticing some dings to the rocker panels right behind the front tires from flinging gravel and other things. I plan on keeping my car a very long time and want it to look good as long as possible.

Edit: a likely explanation for the unnoticeable efficiency is from mud flaps is that since they are right behind the tires, they ride along with them in the air stream and don't cause any more turbulence.

I installed my own ( of course ).

I have a TON of accessories on my car.

Can anyone point out the extremely unique add-on accessory on my car? I love non-obvious upgrades and add-on's.

Hint: My car ALWAYS looks like this when it's parked.

I see white wheel bands, red T logo on the center caps, white mud guards, customized steering wheel and that spoiler at the base of the rear window. Since it took almost a year for me to get the OEM spoiler and Dual Motor badge, that's unique for me.....

Did you paint the mud guards yourself or did you purchase them that way ? Are they a solid white or is it a metallic white ?

In any case, your Model 3 looks very nice !!!

Holy smokes....you really looked close.

Not the wheel bands
Not the steering wheel
Not the spoiler on the window.
You almost hit the nail on the head though. ( Its almost non guessable. )

Additional Hint: It would be a lot of work to do ( without this accessory ) if I were going to have my car professionally photographed.

I didn't paint them. A buddy of mine did. I purchased Tesla's metallic white paint and he did all of the rest ( prep / prime / acid wash / etc. ) in his paint booth.

What did you do to get the tight gap between the front mudguards and the side of the vehicle? No matter how much I manipulated the bottom of mine where the attachment would be made I always had a 2-3mm gap and was very concerned I would trap sand/salt there so I opted not to install.

Did you PPF those areas prior to installation?
