Model 3 Order modified by Tesla without permission?

I just got an email stating that my order was modified. I log in and check and now it has 19" Sport rims added to my Model 3 LR AWD for an extra $1500. I don't want those or to pay extra, is this a common thing they do to try to get rid of existing stock? I see that they say they may charge a fee for changing the order so I'm hoping they won't hit me up when I call and ask for them to reset the rims back to the stock 18".

Definitely give them a call.

If it is "Free" - then, you need to have Tesla provide you something in writing - stating the additional items are complementary. Otherwise, they should not bill you for what you did not order.

You should have a receipt (confirmation email) outlining your original order. Tesla's website (probably) keeps a log of when you yourself, log into the site. That data should prove that you did not make the change.

As long as you can prove you did not make the changes to your original order - you wont have to pay.

Thanks, I found the original order agreement and sent it to my Document Specialist and he said he got it fixed, it just still shows an extra $1500 on the order total. He said that will go away once a VIN is assigned, so heres hoping everything is fixed.

Typical dealership scam :D

I had a similar issue, I ordered a car in inventory and we agreed on a price, car was shipped to Texas and they scheduled my delivery, they sent over the final documents so I could fund the loan and it was $500 more than what we agreed on. Because the car never actually made it into the inventory system before I converted it into a purchase there was nothing but my word and the salesman. The delivery specialist said that's the price, I told him I'd need to contact the salesman to which the delivery specialist said he was on vacation till the new year. I promptly told them to keep the car knowing full well they paid to have it shipped and I hung up.

Got a call back a few minutes later and turns out it was a "computer error." I was told the car was quoted to me at X over the phone and when they went to put it in the system to generate the sale the computer determined the new market value later that day was X+500. I wasn't arguing it as I had better things to do but it was shady on their part and they refused to review the previous notes from the salesman or our calls. It wasn't until I told them to keep the car that they went to look at anything. Typical shady dealer *sugar* right there, but it's a good thing Tesla doesn't have dealers
