Wiki Model 3 Order Tracking Spreadsheet

All records indicate that Tesla has been prioritizing Performance Model 3 deliveries, especially when it nears the end of a quarter. I would visit the edit-design page and make the order change yourself, many other members have reported long lag times between a call/email to upgrade vs. making the upgrade online.
Thanks very much to you both for your answers. Unfortunately I haven't had the edit button since the day after I put my order in and entered my financing and trade in information. So the only way, I think, that I can make a change would be via phone. Unless there's another way that I'm not aware of?

There's a backdoor website URL:
https://www.tesla.com/en_CA/teslaaccount/edit-design/RN123456789

Replace 123456788 with your reservation number. Should let you edit until your vin is assigned.

Thank you for that. I just tried it and it auto-redirected it to my account homepage. There is no VIN showing on my page; maybe there's one assigned and I just can't see it? Or they fixed the back door...

Did you try it with the RN and then your 9 digit registration number not just:
Tesla SSO – Login
? Also make sure you are logged in before trying the link.

If it still redirects I would call the 1-888 number. Once that link stopped working for me I called in and they said I had a vin and would get contacted in 3-10 business days.

Yeah that's exactly what I tried. In fact now I tried it both ways (with and without the RN+9digits). I may have to call them. If I want to change, that is. Still mulling that over...!

The Teslike order tracker is tremendously helpful in substituting data for anecdotal stories, which are heavily negative in the mainstream media.

The survey indicates that quality control on delivered cars may not be ideal but for the vast majority of customers it's pretty good. I took delivery of my Model S during the rollout of Model X, and the impression I get from these forums is that that initial quality of Model 3 is much better than on the early Model X's.

The conspicuously soft spot in that survey is "Communication Prior to Delivery." To no surprise there are several threads about those problems. The most disturbing thread is the one about people losing their VIN's, sometimes more than once, presumably due to that VIN being delivered to a more convenient customer.

In the delivery chart, there is a graph of number of days from VIN to delivery. Presumably that is first VIN assignment for those unfortunate to have more than one. Should we assume that, say more than 25 days in that graph is a reasonable estimate of the rate of switched out VINs, somewhere around 10%?

Update: I called Tesla today and they told me that my existing configuration matched with a VIN yesterday. Delivery advisor getting assigned today, car in transit to Chicago area. Hopefully that'll actually play out as advertised! They said now that a VIN is assigned, changing will cost $500, which felt like throwing away $$$. They suggested speaking with the local team about any available Performance models if I do wish to upgrade.

FINALLY got our P3D+ Saturday. I'm a huge Tesla fan and have had them since 2013. But, this last order was ridiculous. Ordered back on 6/30. Problem was, it was inadvertently ordered on a Canadian site. Repeatedly was told no problem, your order is here and everything looks fine. We have your CA address, and all is moving right along. Well, everyone seemed to be getting their cars except us. After many, many calls along the way, getting assurances all was well, I finally went into our SC, and they looked into it again. This time they were told there was no way to get my car made due to the Canadian order. They said I needed to cancel my order and place a new one. Then, they looked, and there was our exact car right at our SC! So, we got the car that next day! Frustrating but happy, except on day 3, it's at the service center due to error codes and no AP as ordered running. It's on the sticker, but doesn't seem to even have the shadowed steering wheel symbol while calibrating. Not too worried though about that.
I also have to add that it is an AMAZING car! VIN: 83xxx

I am confused so please forgive me, the VIN you guys are posting 83 etc is this from the last 5 digits? I preordered last week my vin is 75xxx my sales guy said it’s a newer version? Bigger back seats ? Pulling a fast one on me or? He said it’s an August build date.

VINs are not sequentially issued, so it's very possible a 75xxx is produced in August.

You won't know until you see the sticker in the door jam...

I added Model 3 MR to the Google form. All Model 3 buyers can enter their data HERE and then check out the spreadsheet HERE which has lots of useful information. These links are also available in the opening message of this thread.

Can you comment on whether or not you are still waiting for your order? You ordered an LR-AWD between 27-30 June 2018 without the $1,000 reservation. It looks like these orders are overlooked.
  • 4% of LR-AWD orders between 27-30 June without a reservation are processed
  • 52% of LR-AWD orders after 30 June without a reservation are processed

Just an update:
I ended up picking up my M3 AWD on Monday 10/15 from the Chicago Service Center on Grand. I showed up on time, the car was waiting for me, looking great. Ran thru a checklist and everything was in order, I signed 3 pieces of paper, and had as much time to go through the car and set it up with the delivery specialist that I wanted.
From the time I ordered in September, till the day I picked it up, everything went perfect. I was able to get the elusive 1.9% rate from Pasadena Federal Credit Union, which required them to mail a physical check to the delivery center. To do this, I needed a signed MVPA from Tesla a week early. I reached out to Tesla, and was emailed a tesla signed MVPA the same day. I then signed and sent to PFCU. I couldn't believe how smooth everything went.
The Chicago-Grand SC is very small, basically a store front with 1 pull in bay type area for service. I was the only delivery for awhile that day, and I appreciated how the delivery specialist worked with me to give me time to look over every gap, light, etc. They even moved some cars around so I could top off on the Super Charger before I left. I just hope my Tesla luck continues throughout my ownership!

On August 28 I received a delivery date of Sep 16-19. I was out of the country until Sep 29. Tesla took my VIN away and promised a new one for the first week of October. I am still waiting and frustrated that they couldn’t wait a few days to deliver my car
