It seems there may be a bit more performance than advertised for the Tesla Model 3 Performance version.
YouTuber Erik Strait posted a video testing the 0-60 mph time of the car, which Tesla says is 3.5 seconds. Strait, however, was able to repeatedly record a time of 3.3 seconds to 60 mph. Then, with a 99 percent charge, he hit 3.18 seconds.

It is downhill, roughly 2m of drop. Also, the time increases by .1 sec after the battery drops a couple of percent, and another .1 sec when the battery is around 70%. So real world 0-60 mph on a battery with 60-90% charge and on level ground is likely around 3.4 sec. Still pretty good.

Should run both ways and average the times... although 2m is pretty negligible.

People keep asking them to test both ways, I'm not really sure why they haven't. They should know that's what people want to see.

Is that with rollout? If so it’s about same as the roughly 3.5 without it others got without it

Also, they are around 6,000 ft in altitude. The air is less dense, especially during the summer. EVs only get faster at altitude.

Not intending to discredit anyone, but unless similar results are reproducible under similar conditions by others, all "one-off" results should await validation, no matter the repeatability of the experiment by the same person.

In my experience (from over 20 0-60 runs on the same course but with different variables) I found no "outstanding" or "wow-like" improvement just from having a 100% soc. Acceleration times were consistent with charges in the 85-95 range, only dropping slightly when dipping below 75%.

Believe me, I am rooting for the numbers posted, but I have my reservations for social bloggers looking for "likes", "retweets", "subscriptions", etc.

True but you are on 18's right? If so, power is not limiting your times. Your tires are. More power will not help you.

I question whether more traction would help the Model 3. When slip start is enabled there is no spinning or chirping of the tires. This tells me that the software limits the amount of torque the motors can put out from a standstill, and no amount of additional traction will yield quicker 0-60 times without some software modifications to allow for more output from the motors.

Let's say its just a pedestrian 3.5 and nothing to see here.

What's the cheapest car that does the same?

In the comments section of a reddit thread on this, someone (not the people who made the video) wrote that the device that was used in the video gives a time based on a rollout.

Right, but according to the video, more power helped him get better numbers than a soc previously in the 80s? All variables constant, a full charge will not shave off 1/3 of a second. Maybe 0.2 sec at the most. It's misleading to give hope and say oh juicing it to 100 will make it faster.

I think you may need to revisit the concept of a rate limiting step.
