Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Received a text and email that I could schedule delivery with a range of three days 9/15-9/17.

"Home delivery" currently scheduled for 9/15, (which is a little strange because I was originally told that home delivery wasn't available for my location, but I'll take it).

Called to speak to a delivery specialist and was told that the delivery would be confirmed 24 hours before appt via phone and that the "Review Agreements" option would become available at that time on my Account page.
Hell yeah brotha!

Hey all , new member here.

I feel like I hit the lottery or something! Went to the showroom here in SLC last Saturday (11th Sept) and walked away really wanting the Model 3 Perf.
Got home and the local VW dealer quoted me an amazing deal on my 2019 Golf R so I couldn't hold back and ordered the M3 that evening.
Just got the text to schedule pickup and it's Friday Morning! even after the guy in the showroom said 3 to 10 weeks for delivery.

Timeline:

09/11 - ordered online (ED of 13th to 23rd Sept)
09/12 - completed finance (ED of 13 - 23rd Sept)
09/13 - Received VIN & 30 mins after uploading Insurance got Delivery schedule text (ED of 14 - 19th Sept)
09/17 - Pickup Scheduled (fingers crossed)

Got my delivery date yesterday afternoon. Sept. 20th. That'll be 9 days from order to delivery. Now I just have to figure out how to explain to my insurance agent that I need proof of insurance for a car I don't own yet.

Also, WTF this car doesn't have Homelink? Can I rip it out of my current 3? 😂

Explain to your agent? Does not compute. I went online and added mine. You know your delivery is 9/20, change your policy to that vehicle (or add as another vehicle) for a 9/20 effective date. I was able to print off temp insurance cards and everything.

Obviously it will depend on your insurance company, but I feel like this should be standard in 2021.

I have State Farm.

From what I can tell, this is a complication because I live in Texas. My sales person (I forget what they call them nowadays) says I have to upload proof of insurance showing the new VIN effective by 9/16 -- four days before my delivery date. This is supposedly because it takes up to 72 business hours to get the temp tags from the DMV, and this is all related to the fact that Texas bars direct sales. From a couple searches here, this appears to be common practice now, and I think it will be easier to explain the situation to my insurance agent rather than convince Tesla this is unnecessary. I didn't do this for buying either of my previous Teslas or any other car I've ever bought from a normal dealer.

I think the plan is to add the new car to my policy effective 9/16 to make Tesla happy. Then when I take delivery of the car on Monday, retroactively change the start date of the new car to Monday, so I don't end up paying to insure two Model 3s for four days.

Well I'm glad California doesn't require proof of insurance showing new vehicle's VIN before receiving it. California doesn't allow direct sales either, but they don't have the same insurance requirement, although I have kept insurance on a truck I sold two weeks ago because that is the only non-motorcycle I had personal insurance on. I was planning on telling them I sold that when I receive my tesla so they can credit me for the 2-4 weeks of insurance I paid on it towards the tesla.

Order date: 7/28/21
VIN: 9/13
White exterior, black interior, no FSD
EDD: 9/17-9/19

Just got my VIN yesterday and received the schedule delivery email today. It asked me to schedule time for home delivery, is that the only option now? I am in SoCal Pasadena area and I think the Burbank delivery center is pretty close to me. Anyhow, anyone has experience with home delivery around the area? Wondering how it works if I find defects? Do you know if the car will be driven or flatbed to me? Any help appreciated!
