Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Pic to prove it happened. Picked up at Charlotte this afternoon after swapping my white/white order to a red/black new inventory car near Boston. It was shipped down to NC in about a week. 5 miles on the odometer.

QC really good. A minuscule paint chip on the front side of the bumper, but a drop of touch up will get it 99%. It’s tiny.

The passenger door has a slight bend to it under the mirror, but it wasn’t bad at all. Not nearly enough to even mention (i wouldn’t have caught it if it wasn’t for the 100 posts on this forum about the issue).

I can’t seem to figure out how to go to a website other than Tesla.com (prompts me to connect to WiFi even though i have premium connectivity and was streaming audio at the same time), so appreciate any advice prior to my searches.

thanks to everyone for the entertainment during the wait. I surely hope those without cars tomorrow get them in early January instead of March.

Thanks y’all

Had an appointment tomorrow at 1:30 to get the car. A delivery specialist called today letting me know the truck wouldn’t arrive until 3 and needed to move my delivery time. New time is 5 now. 2 hours from truck to delivery doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy that the car will be cleaned and checked over very well.

Hopefully all goes well.

Good luck everyone on the last minute deliveries

Congratulations! It’s beautiful. The internet stuff takes a few hours sometimes to start working. Also try the the 2 scroll wheel reset to see.

If you picked up in the last 3 days of the year, Elon came thru on his word! FSD trial just enabled itself on my car tonight. I took delivery yesterday 12/29 and looked around lunch today and it wasn’t there, but was tonight. So I got in on the ‘last 3 days of the year’ promo. Now, how to get in on the city street beta??

Weird how they can instantly add FSD trial but takes until mid Jan to start the free supercharging. I feel bad for those that got pushed to March. Seems he should be like “Sorry for having to wait another quarter, here is free supercharging and a trial of FSD” but instead I got it and had no control over pickup within the timeframe.

For those pondering a headlight-holdout, I too am of the unpopular opinion of liking the old headlights over the new ones. While picking up yesterday I saw a lot of them. The black plastic surround looks cheaper then the complete cohesive looking reflective/chrome housing on old ones. As for functionality, I haven’t seen new ones in action except that YouTube video, but my ‘old headlights’ work great and are super bright. Unless Matrix LED pattern coolness is passed in the US and actually a feature of these new lights and enabled, I won’t be too jealous.

I’m out of the waiting room too! Picked up today (one day early) in Burbank. Place was loaded with MY LR and M3 SR/LR. Only saw two other M3P over the 1.5 hours I went through the car.

Overall, fit and finish was pretty good. The typical misalignment on the top edge of the front doors, rear taillight slightly off, and a few very very tiny paint imperfections which you can’t even see. I went and looked at other cars and most had the same problem(s) but they aren’t substantial or noticeable to me unless I’m being super nit picky.

I could be completely off basis, but I wonder if Tesla's big push for the 500k deliveries made them shift their focus to mass produce even more SR+ and LR's since they're the more affordable option. They wanted to ensure that if someone woke up on 12/31 and decided they wanted a Tesla, that they could instantly sell them one.

Because otherwise it just doesn't make sense that you'd have all of these people practically begging to give them $60k+ and be forced to wait possibly 5-6 months to do so.
That's a very good thought. I wouldn't be surprised if they decided earlier in the year to really push the LR and SR models.
In the very near future none of this will matter when they get their new factories up and running. They'll be able to churn out cars so much faster than they are doing now. Eventually you'll be able to just walk into a SC and take your pick from multiple Performance models just sitting on the lot in various colors.

Tesla Delivery Center in fremont today called about an hour ago, all they were able to offer me was a long range model. They said they couldn’t even throw in the acceleration boost if they wanted to. They also didn’t care that my trade in value was going to go down, my finance paperwork was going to expire and that I would not be getting the year of free super charging or 3 months free of FSD. To add insult to injury, they weren’t able to refund my $100 deposit. As much as I want to be angry and salty, I’m trying to remind myself that it’s just a car at the end of the day and that I still have a lot of other great things in life to be thankful for.... still a little irritated though!

I ordered red/black on 11/25 for a Burbank pickup in 4-6wks and completed everything that day including the insurance card photo that they don't seem impressed by, but I think that's normal(?). Date estimate has been consistently in the 2nd half of Dec but fluctuating slightly.

Got MVPA and VIN 875XXX yesterday and paid in full. Should be the latest headlights, etc. but still my VIN seems a bit low for 12/29 SoCal. Hope it's not one that had to be pulled aside for rework.

This evening the VIN and delivery estimate disappeared. I'm guessing they wiped a bunch of us off the website because tomorrow's going to be too hectic to keep the site in sync anyway. Or maybe the system's just flakey -- the dates have disappeared before.

Guys don't give up. If you're in SoCal there's tons of cars to be delivered. imagine part of the Knotts Berry Farm lot full of new Teslas. Not many performance versions thats for sure.
