The power and efficiency increased. It’s discussed in this thread Model Year 2022 Refresh M3/MY
Up to 9% more efficient. We would have seen the range drop with the new battery which we have not. Hairpin winding on the stator is one of the changes.
Yes the new motor is more efficient but we aren't discussing what actually happened, just what the official stats and screen reading provides.

We saw a range drop months ago in anticipation for the new battery, which took longer then Tesla expected to be used.

No that was the Ryzen. Cars have come since then with the same range with the 3L battery and older motors. We are talking the cars that came in the last 2 weeks that have the 5L with new motor there has not been any stat changes for this extremely recent update. Even then the long range didn’t have a battery and motor update and that range also dropped because of the Ryzen.

For those that have picked up so far, does it come with mud flaps? Front and rear?
I purchased these from Amazon . Came colour coded , for about £35 :)

In the UK the LR range increased from 360 to 374 and at the same time the P went from 352 to 340 in the latter half of 2021. Those numbers haven't changed since and are related to the LR battery increasing from 75 to 79 and the P decreasing from 82 to 79 kW.

The actual changes didn't take place for months afterwards but as with Tesla they provide worse case so there is no comeback. Ryzen made no difference, or was already factored into those figures as they haven't changed.

It's only now that the M3Ps are coming through with those smaller batteries so it is expected that people are now seeing 100% range estimations less than the 310-315 EPA miles new owners were previously seeing.

LR decreased AMD Ryzen Affects The Range Of New Tesla Cars
It’s the Ryzen plus extra GPU you now have to use.

My range has not decreased with the 5L.

This is a UK forum. Changes in Europe and Australia didn't apply here because we never had the extended range they had in the first place that Tesla then had to back down.

What 100% range is your vehicle showing?
343. I posted about this the other day. As I said the range changes here also decreased the LR. This was widely reported on this forum for the UK. We don’t get special vehicles coming out of China.

Not quite right - there was a separate range drop for Ryzen MPU and then a further range drop for Ryzen + LG 79Kwh Battery.

People who received their M3P's in Q1 this year (ordered end of last year) were individually informed that they would receive a slight WLTP range drop (think it was about 5 miles range), due to the Ryzen based MPU. This was never officially announced but they then made an update start of this year for the future LG based cars, with a total of 12 mile range drop. The LG based cars were supposed to drop towards the end of Q1, but of course we know about all the delays which pushed then into late Q2.

The Q1 M3P's are a bit of a unicorn - they have the Ryzen MPU, the hairpin rear motor but retain the Panasonic 82Kwh battery and have a WLTP range of 347 miles iirc.

The full range drop of 12 miles in the Q2 onwards M3P's is in part due to the reduced capacity of the LG battery - 7 miles and 5 miles for the Ryzen.

The Panasonic ones do not have the latest motor. That was never applied for in the conformance documentation. As we know from the other thread the max power consumption specs of the new motor are the same but it outputs more power. It runs more efficiently.

The Q1 M3P's DO have the Hairpin motor....it output's more torque but it's peak HP has moved further up in the RPM range....
The front and rear power balance curve is different with the hairpin motors.

Again the TFF forums have confirmed that M3P's delivered in Q1 are a unicorn model that have the Ryzen MPU, Hairpin motor and Pan 82kwH.
Tests have been done on them, for power output of both motors vs speed. Approval for this configuration was made and can be seen in the WLTP document's.

It is ONLY M3P's delivered in Q1 2022 that have this configuration. M3P''s delivered last year do not have the Ryzen CPU and hairpin. M3P's delivered in Q2 onwards have the LG battery, Hairpin and Ryzen.

3L with the cat iii higher power motors are not cleared for sale in Europe. They have cat ii. Only the 5L can legally have the cat iii. Consult the other thread if in doubt.
