The Q1 M3P's DO have the Hairpin motor....it output's more torque but it's peak HP has moved further up in the RPM range....
The front and rear power balance curve is different with the hairpin motors.

Again the TFF forums have confirmed that M3P's delivered in Q1 are a unicorn model that have the Ryzen MPU, Hairpin motor and Pan 82kwH.
Tests have been done on them, for power output of both motors vs speed. Approval for this configuration was made and can be seen in the WLTP document's.

It is ONLY M3P's delivered in Q1 2022 that have this configuration. M3P''s delivered last year do not have the Ryzen CPU and hairpin. M3P's delivered in Q2 onwards have the LG battery, Hairpin and Ryzen.
Just checked my 22 M3P delivered in March 22. It has a Ryzen, heated wipers etc and the VIN indicates the hairpin motors (L in position 8) . Scan my Tesla also reveals an 82Kwh battery. No idea what this means in the real world as the only use I can see if on enthusiast forums like this one

Means everything I said is correct....you have the Panasonic 3L 82Kwh battery, the Ryzen MPU, and the 3D6 Hairpin motor - you have the best all worlds on your M3P and I really wish i was getting your car!. That thing will pull like a train and put down more power than the LG based models and further more can continue putting out maximum power down to 75% SOC where the LG is loosing power output from the first percent drop from 100% SOC as it is entirely limited by the battery max discharge output where your panasonic has a lot more head room in maximum discharge power.

3L with the cat iii higher power motors are not cleared for sale in Europe. They have cat ii. Only the 5L can legally have the cat iii. Consult the other thread if in doubt.

They are cleared for sale, the TFF forum has numerous COC's of delivered cars (in Q1 2022) showing E3LD (pan 82kwh) and 3D6 hairpin motor. The applications for WLTP testing for this configuration were also done last year. As I said, all Q1 delivered M3P's should be of this configuration - Ryzen CPU, Pan 3L 82Kwh bat, 3D6 rear motor....with a WLTP range of 347miles (7 miles more than the LG based models, but 5 miles less than non Ryzen based E3LD cars, as stated before)

Not the higher power cat iii. There are 2 variants of the 3D6. Those come with the cat ii. Same power consumption for more power. Means you are going to get the same acceleration regardless. If you look at the battery in isolation then your view is skewed. Completely offsets the difference in battery capacity and power output. Tesla thought this through before they changed the battery.

Mine says 393 kW though (I'm sure it's a lie 😅)
Interesting to see the 5L in combination with the cat.3 drive unit.

The maximum net power is just the sum of rated front and rear motor power. We know that the rated power is exceeded, up to 430kW with the 3L and 411kW with the 5L. Any combination of sub-systems will provide the rated performance.

A motor cannot create more power than can be provided by the battery. There may be some subtle differences in the efficiency to convert electrical energy to mechanical, but the 3L typically provides ~20kW more power to the motors than the 5L. The cat.3 drive unit unlikely to be 20/235 = 8.5% more efficient than than the cat.2. Simply because the WLTP range has scaled in proportion with battery capacity with no improvement between v.21 and v.22 certification.

The basis for the efficiency and power is that the cat iii is producing more power output for the same power input I.e. less energy is lost. At a minimum it is giving 393/377 4.2% (if we are crudely comparing the total, it’s higher if we just compare the cat ii to cat iii). It is basically giving more output for the same power input. Even if the battery supplies a bit less more of that input power is being converted to power at the wheels.

Unfortunately not. The maximum rated (net) mechanical output does not mean that the cat.3 DU produces any more mechanical power, for the same electrical power, than the cat.2 DU.
The max power consumption is equal to the cat ii so it must be producing more power/has less losses. Equal max power consumption but higher power output. Someone needs to run these cars against each other, maybe like Matt Watson.

If the cat.2 produces (say) 219kW mechanical power from 226kW of electrical power** then how much mechanical power would the cat.3 make?

It can’t be 228kW (4% more) because that’s impossible.

And if the cat.3 was 4% more efficient then the v.22 WLTP range would have been 354 miles.

**assumes 97% efficiency

The cat iii is 235 kw. We only have 1 data point, max input power (same as cat ii) and max output power (higher than cat iii). We need to see the full power consumption to power output curve across the entire rpm/speed range. Also I doubt the cat ii is anything like 97% across it’s entire rpm range.

Removed my row 😥
