So today was a big news day for the Model 3 in Canada. And by that I mean various people noticed changes in wording across various websites.

So lets start.

The Model 3 SR will start at $45,600 CAD - Source: Model 3 & Model 3 Reservations FAQ

"Designed to attain the highest safety ratings in every category, Model 3 achieves 354 km of range while starting at only $45,600 before incentives."

The Model 3 LR will start at $58,800 CAD - Source: https://www.cevforbc.ca/sites/default/files/cev_eligible_vehicles_grid_updated_2018_march_21_0.pdf

The Model 3 LR + PUP will cost $64,100 CAD - Source: Model 3 Reservations FAQ

"Which Model 3 features are currently available?
Our first Model 3 in production comes with a long-range battery, 499 km of range, rear-wheel drive and premium upgrades throughout, beginning at $64,100. In late 2018, we will introduce the option for a standard battery with 354 km of range and standard equipment, beginning at $45,600."

We can safely assume that the costs for Paint and EAP will be the same now as on S & X. Wheel upgrade costs are still unknown.

Electrek also wrote an article stating that Tesla confirmed configuration emails for Model 3 reservation holders will start rolling out this week so they can start configuring. No word on AWD yet though.

Thoughts?

$6600 for EAP, must have
$4000 for FSD, not gonna buy now
I like white car so $2000 for paint
I love AWD, let’s say $5000 upgrade
I like 19inch wheel as 18 isn’t that great looking (10% range loss), say $2000

64100+6600+2000+5000+2000=79700CAD
After HST(ON) is approx 90061CAD

since it’s under 75k, so 14k rebate apply(if the rebate can survive)
90k - 14k = 76k

Honestly, Those loaner / demo Model S 75/75D would be bargain, but too bad now as it’s no longer eligible for rebate

Model 3 should be soon the best selling EV in Canada

Wow when you spell it out like that and start adding each option its crazy how high up it goes. Just a small correction:
The paint is $1,000 USD so they'll charge $1,300 CAD for it.

I think realistically I may have to forego Enhanced Auto Pilot for now. Spending $6,500 for that feature is a lot of money and something I may have to get in a few years. My aim is to keep it under $70K and then luckily get the $14K rebate.

An $80,000 vehicle is far from what the majority of Canadians would call "affordable". You and I may be able to afford it, sure... but in the general sense.. this is not an "affordable electric vehicle". Even taking into consideration the $14,000 rebate... You must at least agree with that?

Yah i agree when looking at the monthly financing cost of it being between $700 to $1000 per month, i realized i'm going to have to forego on certain options because it quickly hits 75 to 80K. First thing to go is Autopilot unfortunately. As much as i wanted it, at $6,500 it's just not worth the increase in monthly payments.
