With all my angst over battery size, dual motor, glass roof, etc, probably the biggest thing I worry about is not being able to opt out of wood trim. I absolutely despise wood trim in cars.

I would have thought this issue would have been much easier due to not using as much aluminum as in their other cars. AL-U-MIN-UM, dreadfully tinny word.
I don't mind wood, not just one plain strip, it looks like an afterthought you that they ran out of black material to match the rest of the car. Use more wood somewhere else.

I couldn't agree with you any more. For an interior that feels so clean and minimalist- any wood trim feels very outdated and old. Just my opinion though.
It would be cool if the wood was sourced from a naturally fallen redwood from the Muir Forest just north of the golden gate. I could live with that wood easily. The day I was there there had been a tree fall the day before. The larger trees in the Muir woods are between 500 and 800 years old. Amazing place to visit if you get the chance:
I like the wood trim fine but would be curious to see what other materials Tesla may offer. I mean, how much would it cost to mold a straight and flat piece of nice looking plastic? or add to the complexity of manufacturing?
