Model X sighting in Houston

Is anyone getting the feeling the M3 is way farther along than most are giving Tesla credit for? This post, the Motor Trend live feed of the thing driving out on public roads, and the LA cars driving around in public after the reveal all seem to indicate that the bones of this car are basically done. There's interior tweaking and final visual tweaking and of course Gigafactory production, but this whole situation feels a lot more complete than the Model S did two years prior to customer deliveries.

Might it instead have been a Model S with the new nose?
I highly doubt a Model 3 (prototype) would be on any street in a major Metropolitan area (not in California) unescorted.
Too many iPhones and snapchats.

Without all the necessary production assembly lines and vendor whatnots, a Model 3 prototype is a HUGE financial investment, because it is basically a hand-built Unit.
Every single bit.

Might want to review the MotorTrend article about the Model 3 @ the Gigafactory to see how much they could photograph, and what Items they were asked to NOT photograph.

Do not photo car interior.
Do not open doors, frunk or trunk.
NO.

What event? First I've heard of it.

I received an email from Tesla as follows:

Tesla Weekend Social

We are excited to invite you to the launch of the Tesla Weekend Social series at your nearest Tesla location.

This new event series was designed exclusively for owners. Over a light breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with Tesla product experts, learn more about latest product features and speak with fellow owner enthusiasts. We look forward to seeing you this month as we take a closer look at Summon.

To find the event nearest you, select a date below.

Here are the event details for Sunday 5/1:

Tesla Houston - The Galleria
5135 W Alabama St
Houston, TX
77056

Event Date:
Sunday, May 1, 2016
Event Hours:
10am-12pm

I'm sure you could just show up without an RSVP. From what I hear through the grapevine its coffee and donuts and they give a small demonstration of Summon. It is also an opportunity to meet other Tesla owners and learn more about your car. I bet they'll have the refreshed S in the showroom to look at and probably the Model X that I've seen in there recently.

A couple of things come to mind:
  • I'm wondering how many non-owners (not just guests of owners attending) will be coming. If it is a repeat of the 3/31 crowd, I may have to pass since the Galleria store is not as spacious as the North Houston location.
  • Maybe Tesla should hold quarterly events for reservation holders.

Agree, I may pass too if its too busy. In other news, there's a red Model S with the new facelift at the Galleria. And the Model X is still in the Gallery to check out.

I went to this past Sunday's Social at the Airtex showroom. The sales person assured me I did not see a Model 3. And if there were one around, she would be very upset it didn't stop at the Showroom. There are only a handful of 3s and they are all in CA. With a couple of Model Xs in the repair garage, I concluded I saw a Model X. I had never seen a Model X before. Another gentleman at the Social asked me if it was red or white. He even told me who owns that red Model X.

And yes, my sighting was on Studewood in the Heights --- home of many Art Car Parade vehicles :)

When the facts change, I change my mind. Eye witness is the worse form a evidence.

Thank you for clarifying.

I do not believe the reported sighting in Florida was a Model 3.
