Model 3 software super-thread

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
It's getting hard to keep track of features that don't necessarily carry over between successive software version releases. Scouring through several pages of posts for each individual software version thread is inefficient and ineffective. If this format is helpful to people, I'll try to maintain this table in post #1 and keep it relevant and up to date. If you see an error, please flag it. This is intended to be applicable to Model 3 only, as some features are enabled/disabled differently for S & X. Here goes...

There’s already a long-standing thread you should post it there.

You can request the moderator turn this post into a Wiki like mine. It takes a few days and then you can edit the first post to your hearts content. I already edited the copy of the table you left at my thread: Model 3 UI concerns, a wiki

It makes sense to have an ongoing list of features, you might wanna flip your table and track the releases across the top, putting new ones on the left, and putting features going down, with newer features added at the top.

mod note: There is no way to allow extended-duration edits of posts here, aside from converting the post to a wiki. I like your idea but do think a link to online table software (Google Sheets, for example) would be less cumbersome than editing a wiki post. But if you prefer the latter, I can ask the admins of the site and they may convert it for you. Just let me know.

@ohmman , let's make it a wiki. Appreciate your help.

Sorry, I should have been clearer in my previous post. The 5% range increase (LR RWD to 325) wasn't present in 7.11, but it is present in 8.x (and I would assume 9 and 12).
I hear you, and I know that something supposedly happened in 8.2. But I personally haven't seen any improvement in my LR 3, and several have posted similar findings (some with results perhaps half of the +5%). So I'm calling that feature a "?" until I see more universal consistent results.

Fair enough. Been pretty binary for us (either charges to 263 or 276 @ 85%). I assumed the varied results were due to people having varied states of pack balancing or degradation, etc. but reasonable to look at it as the jury’s still out.

The range increase has not been rolled out to everyone. Pack balancing or degradation is not a plausible explanation. Peoples batteries didn't degrade 5% overnight. I checked my exact available range before and after 5.15, 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5 and it has always been exactly the same before and after. There must be some other factor we are not aware of, maybe it only unlock the range after a certain number of cycles or super charging. It doesn't appear to be based on the odometer, maybe they are just unlocking the range on a select sample for testing.

The wipers do not appear to have any improvement for me, if anything they are going the opposite direction. Now they go like I'm driving through a monsoon in the slightest drizzle.

I'm still stuck on 2019.5.15
I'm starting to wonder if they are intentionally leaving a small group of cars on an old software stack so that they can compare the response to some real-world feature with the old vs. new software (on different cars operating in the same geographic area). I haven't been following TeslaFi long enough to know if this might be one of their validation techniques. But if it is, we thank you for your service.

Better than expected. Looks like we're getting 150 kW Supercharging!
