If their main concern was placement and robotic movement for the 1/10 speed test, could the world settings be the equivalent of tracer rounds? A little smoke is harder to observe than arcs and sparks.

When you set the robots up, you are right there next to the weld gun so you can check for obstruction when the weld is performed. The movement between welds is calculated by software based off of the physical characteristics of the equipment and the geometry of the part and the fixturing.

IMO, the 10x is not a change happening at the individual stations but the time the vehicle spends between stations and being looked over before moving on.

That doesn't make sense to me since the video is only of one station and said to be 1/10 speed. Also, those robots seem slow with long pauses.
